I gave this book review to my Church Circle ladies. I read the book twice as I prepared the program. The group was impressed and several were finding it on Amazon and plan to order it.. It is a very emotional book and such a good example of one who has risen above the situation she was in.

This was a wonderful account of a girl who endured unbelievable abuse and discomfort as a child and now as an adult is helping other children who find themselves in similar situations. Absolutely wonderful, but you will need a box of Kleenex.

This book is a pack of lies! Don't waste your money. My sister never liked my mother or father and she tried liked the dickens to get away.

This story grabs your heart and heals the souls of those who have traveled a less than gracious path. A whole -hearted soul is the goal.

Reading about child abandonment and abuse is never easy and A Forest of Doors was no different. The book is only 97 pages long, but tells the heartbreaking story of the abuse of author L.A. Muse and how she was abused again by the "system" supposedly in place to protect her. The book reads like a disjointed journal with lots of gaps in the story. The story Muse tells seems to skip a lot and moves really fast. However, I do appreciate her transparency in sharing her story in the hopes it will encourage others to put a voice to their own. Instead of letting the horror of her childhood and much of her young adult life define her and determine her future, Muse now advocates for those who suffer some of the same things she suffered. I'll look forward to reading the "rest of the story" in her upcoming book Carver Road.

This is an encouraging personal account of an abandoned child who finally found healing and restoration.

Lynnann's story reads like a nightmare. When she was five and six, her father was in Viet Nam and her mother brought home “uncles” who stayed the night. Sometimes her mother would be gone for days and Lynnann would have to take care of her four siblings. Sometimes the kids would have to stay in the car while their mother spent the evening in a bar.

Her father returned from Viet Nam but life was no better. There were fights and shortly he left. They moved to Maine and there was more of the same from her mother. Then her mother signed papers releasing three of the children to a children's home. About a year later their mother took them back for a while. But she left again and when the food and clean clothes ran out the social worker returned. Three of the five children would be adopted but Lynnann and “Sissy” were off to the children's home again.

Lynnann and Sissy were eventually taken in by a foster family, a Christian family. But Lynann's troubles were not over as she was molested by a man from her school. Although Lynnann became a Christian during this time, she she was unstable and ran away from her foster family.

She made her way to an uncle who connected her with her father in California. But life there was not good and poor choices haunted her. She got pregnant, went through two marriages, cut off all contact with her birth family, and made suicide attempts.

She finally turned to God and began her healing.

This is quite a story. Lynnann experienced repeated abandonment by her family and was molested as a teen. When she ultimately turned to God, people came alongside her, befriended her and helped her through her healing. It was encouraging to read how she reconnected with her birth siblings and pursued a productive life. This is a good book showing the strength of the human spirit and the faithfulness of God.

I received a complimentary copy of this book through the B&B Media group for the purpose of this review.

I was very deeply touched and moved (for many days) by this wonderful little book. After I read it I had to sit for quite a while to reflect on the depth of pain and tragedy as well as the immense love and forgiveness that are built into the pages of this lovely, and very intense story. I wanted to write a review that would truly honor the depth of what I felt, and continue to feel and now understand after reading this book. Love and Healing are possible, even in the worst of circumstances.

I was moved first ... by the sheer simplicity of this book. It is less than 100 pages long and yet I could feel through Lynn Ann's words the depth and feeling of what it must have been like to have been abandoned. And, you must realize that writing a very simple book is extremely hard to do. But it is done here, and the results are quite moving and beautiful.

Being able to live through the tragedy and experiences that Lynn Ann went through takes deep courage. But then, to be able to write about the experiences is another level of courage that I deeply applaud. In freeing herself of the burden of this story she gives those on the same path both a deep sense of love and even deeper ..... hope.

From the very first page that reads... "This is my story. I'm glad you're here. It helps me to know I'm not alone anymore." I was in.

Healing a life of deep abandonment and shame is hard. Going out into the world and sharing it is even more difficult. But Lynn Ann did it! She did it! And this is a wonderful book that you will not be able to put down.... and certainly you will most certainly be able to read it in one sitting.

But don't be confused that a small book cannot deeply move you. This book will. It shot straight into my heart and left me feeling quite deeply. I still think about this story and have to say that I won't be the same after having read it.

Buy the book. There is courage, love and redemption. And it is a true story. This is everything I know I look for in a good book!
